Gayle (Gay-lä) Jennings-O'Byrne is a tech investor, entrepreneur and former finance executive.
She helps companies scale and grow and has experience buying and selling companies. She is the host of the " VCs off the Record" podcast -- real talk by real investors.
She brings 20+ years experience and involvement in the women of color tech ecosystem to the co- founding of the WOCstar Fund, an early stage tech venture fund. Prior roles include investment banking, philanthropy, lobbying and marketing at JPMorgan Chase and Sun Microsystems.
Industry expertise gained in those roles includes big data, media, edutech and fintech. Skills include mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, valuation, and contract negotiations.
She has been an active investor over the years, which started with the opportunity to learn via a co- investment opportunity with JPMorgan’s private equity. In addition to investing, she trains and coaches entrepreneurs and investors.
Graduate of the University of Michigan and Wharton School of Business, plus participation in 500VC Unlocked/Stanford University, the National University of Singapore and City of London Polytechnic programs.
Recently appointed president of The Nantucket Project Academy and board member of Women.nyc and BE NYC (Black Entrepreneurs of NYC), based out of the New York City Department of Small Business Services and Economic Development Corporation. Additionally a Nazarian Social Innovator-in-Residence at Wharton Social Impact Initiative, a Tribeca Disruptor Fellow and former Ghetto Film School advisory board member.
She resides in New York City, where she bikes, sails, plays golf, and supports the arts and emerging artists along with her husband David O’Byrne.
